Wormy Chestnut Wall + Ceiling Planking

Wormy Chestnut Wall & Ceiling Planking + Hand Hewn Beams

Antique Wormy Chestnut is a true American treasure. The American Chestnut tree once grew to a diameter of up to 10 feet and a height of 100 feet. However, by 1950, three and a half billion American Chestnut trees were killed by the Chestnut Blight. During this time the trees were often infested with small borers, which chewed pin sized holes in the wood, thus giving it the name “Wormy Chestnut.” Southend Reclaimed reclaims Antique Wormy Chestnut from barns and old buildings. This extremely rare species with its subtle hues, worm holes and random nail holes has its own distinctive look and appeal.
