Classic Quartersawn is our most authentic grade. Early colonists appreciated the stability and wearability of knotty high heartwood quartersawn cuts. Classic Quartersawn fits well in both formal and less formal settings and is often considered our most versatile grade. Classic Quartersawn is the first choice of those replicating Colonial architecture.

98% to 100% Heartwood Dense linear grain 8 or more growth rings per inch Occasional tight knots ranging from 3/4" to 1 1/2" on the minor axis Occasional nail holes Warm, rich, aged patina Widths - 2 1/2" to 5 1/2" net Thickness - 3/4" net Lengths - 1 1/2' to 12' - average 5' to 7'
